On a sunny morning last month,

I took a walk around the backyard and passed our two bluebird houses along the way.

Both are occupied this season, which is gratifying.

Last summer we missed having these lovely houseguests.

Sometimes there's abundance, and sometimes not so much.

I remember three years ago,

looking out one of the kitchen windows and seeing an abundance of different kinds of birds, bluebirds included,

just hanging out with each other for quite a while.

It was a delightful scene.

Then two years ago, on one of my summer strolls in the yard, I saw a bluebird sitting on top of each birdhouse.

That reminded me of people sitting on their front porches,
